Okay, I love bright colors, stones and beads! So first, I was lucky enough to grab an Etsy treasury today and decided to fill it with colors from my East Team. http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=1420

Next... I just got in some beads... stone beads, pearls, stone beads, glass beads, stone beads, cats eye beads and more stone beads! Elizabear (Beth) is a stay at home mom and crafter. She calls her little one “a wonderful little miracle” and has pictures of her miracle splashed on her blog and Etsy shops. She obviously loves that baby!

As for her crafts, Elizabear is a jack-of-all-trades! She makes colorful designer soaps and crayons, banners, wreaths, novelty items, paper products and more.

Personally, I love the soaps! Beth does not lack imagination when creating these. You can find everything from baby powder scented “baby carriage soapsicles,” to heart soaps, to the humorous and particularly useful, “monster proof soap.” Elizabear even features soap on a rope (scrubbie soaps)! The possibilities of her next creations are endless! So check out Elizabear’s shop to see for yourself and while you are there, buy some unique handmade soap, wrap it up and give it to someone special, for Christmas in July.

Gypsy Design Challenge of The EarthPath Artisans Street Team (EAST)

The EarthPath Artisans Street Team (EAST) is having a Gypsy Design Challenge! Team members have taken their interpretation of what the word "Gypsy" conjures up for them, and created new pieces in a variety of media.

The purpose of this challenge is not to win prizes or compete with each other; rather, it's a way to build team camaraderie and inspire us to explore new themes and stretch our creative muscles. The Prettiest Art in the World

To me real art is something that is created that stirs some emotion. So this must be art, huh? Everyone, meet my brand new grandbaby, Allesyn. Allesyn was born to my Jonathan on May 30. She is the sweetest little thing in the world and definitely stirs emotion. Hope you all get a chance to feel the same wonderment that my little Alle-bug makes me feel when I hold her. Life is Good!

Sneak Peek at ACEO Card Book

Here's a sneak peek at my ACEO card book. I decided to put the book in the format of ACEO cards. Each page will be tied at the top by a ribbon. Remember... it is "Thinking is Creating: Philosophy in Art." Keep an eye on my Etsy site Purple Dream for the complete book. Each quote will most likely be original quotes by me or my son. I say most likely, only because I haven't quite finished the book yet. It may take some time.... but I sure will have fun putting it together! Every page will be thick paper and signed and dated on the back. That way this little book can be used as an original ACEO collectible.

Blogging Addictions

Okay... now I have discovered the addicting actions of blogging. I have worked on my personal blog... and learned quite a bit in that short bit of time. Today I discovered reading and commenting on other people's blogs. This could definitely be addicting. I saved the links to some of my favorite blogs and blogs of some of my favorite people and etsy team-mates (POEST, AWBAR and EAST TEAMS). Check 'em out... I sure did and I have wonderful plans to check out many more. Just not tonight. For now it is time to spend time with my hubby... who makes me (in the words of my son's girlfriend) "retardedly happy."

Dreaming of Writing....

I always wanted to write a book. I love philosophy and art more than anything in the world (aside from living beings of course)... so that is what I am going to do. I am going to put together a hand made book that includes art and philosophical ideas. The best part is... the philosophy is not only going to be coming from me... but also my youngest son Trent. So we come full circle from my very first blog here. The book will be titled, "Thinking is Creating" (Trent's part): "Philosophy in Art" (My part). Trent and I always made a good pair! Heck... together we are almost one complete person. LOL It will take a while to complete my book. I am going to write it on the computer and include my original art work of course... but when I am finished it will be for sale on my etsy sites. Wish me luck! Hey... and leave me some comments to my blog! ;-)

I have recently become a member of the most honorable organization ever, AWBAR! AWBAR stands for Abandoned Wild Babies Animal Rescue.

AWBAR is Abandoned Wild Babies Animal Rescue in Lockport, Illinois.

We currently have 25 baby raccoons and 2 birds! Please help AWBAR by making a purchase, 100 percent of all shop sales will go to help feed the baby animals!

Trying more new things.

I have created my first ACEO! I am so proud of it. I worked for hours and for those who know something about photoshop... I used nearly 100 layers before I was finished! Talk about confusing. I am so glad I started labeling them right away or I would have been screwed. The title for this first one is "Fairy Forest." I can't wait to get it printed. My plans are to create three more in this series first. I will give a sneak preview here. It is hard to see the little fairies and fairy lights in the trees from this picture... but they are there.

I also created two ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions and Originals) by drawing Native American Indian masks. One is a Tlinglit Otter and the other is a Kwakiutl Mask of the Female Ogre who eats children. Ooooh.... So these are originals and not reproductions.

Nothing like trying new things. Let me know what you think of the fairy forest.

Trying New Things

I think I am finally getting a hold of this blogging thing here. ;-) When I decided to create a blog, I really didn't know what I was doing. Then I decided... why not? It might be fun. And it is. It is a good way to keep in touch with what is going on personally and with my Etsy shops. I have two Etsy shops for those who don't know... the first one is Purple Dreams where I sale beads, wire wrapped jewelry, rock art and more... and the second Etsy shop is Art That Heals. In Art That Heals I sale healing stones and list their metaphysical properties, healing tools, goddess and healing stone jewelry and more. Both shops feature some of my graphic design work also. Oh... check out my links so you can get free desktop wallpaper. I have created tons that I don't have listed yet... but I am working on that slowly but surely. My latest jewelry creations.... a Venus of Willendorf Rose Quartz pendant hanging from a handcrafted necklace that consist of rose quartz, quartz and amazonite beads AND.... a variety of matching bracelets and earrings. This was FUN to create. That's it for now....

Happiness in a Fondue Pot

Talk about a fun busy day! This morning my husband, kids and I met my stepdaughter and her family at the park for a cookout. I love seeing my grandkids! Don't see them nearly enough since they live in GA. It was great. Then... we went to my mother's house for fondue. We had an avocado and edam cheese dip.. and a beer cheese dip... chocolate and strawberry cream cheese. I think I was in heaven. Just arrived home and we are all ready for sleep. Big fun day for sure!

Thinking is Creating

"Thinking is Creating" is a quote from my youngest son. He is 18, soon to be 19, but seems to have the wisdom of someone nearly 5 times his age. My son's name is Trenton and needless to say he is awesome! Trenton has an incredibly creative mind and thinks in whole philosophical terms. "Thinking is Creating." I have thought of that statement many times since I first read it on his myspace. I am embarrassed to admit, it did not make a whole lot of sense to me at first... but then the more I 'thought' about it, the more I realized it was true. Thinking creates imagination... or maybe it takes the imagination to think creatively. I am not sure. I do know however, that thinking, visualizing inside your mind, or whatever term you choose to use... is almost always the first step in the creative process. So Trent, thanks for making me think... which made me create! It is about time I started that process in my life again!
